Matsyasana a Destroyer of the diseases, is a Sanskrit name. Matsya means fish and Asana means-posture thus name given MATSYASANA.It is back bending exercise,that gives relax to upper back and back of the neck.it also stretches the front muscles of the neck and muscles of the ribs.It has a great effect on thyroid gland and improves mood also have great effect on parathyroid gland thus improves the function of the body. Matsyasana is a best yoga pose for biggeners as it improves the stretching of the body ,gives energy and improves mood.It improves blood supply to the reproductive and pelvic organ.with this yoga toning of thigh and intercostal muscle occur.

It is helpful in asthma and bronchitis.Improves the immune system as it makes thymus gland healthy.

INSTRUCTION-:

Before performing matsyasana you must follow the following instruction-

Try to practice bhujangasana and halasana to make body more flexible.
Before performing matsyasana ,you must be empty stomach.
Do this asana in morning for best result.
During this process beginners feel strain in their neck so when you feel any type of discomfort, put a thickly folded blanket under the back of your neck.

How to perform Matsyasana-:

- First of all lie straight on the floor .
- Bend your knees and feet should touch the floor.
- Be comfortable in this position.
- Now start the pose, inhale and lift your pelvis slightly up from the floor.
- Put your palms down and place below your buttocks.
- Rest your buttocks on the back of your palms.
- Remember that your hands and elbows must be close to the side of your torso.
- Now inhale and press your forearms and elbow firmly against the floor.
- Press your scapulas into your back.
- During inhalation lift your chest up,it is done in such a way that your head is also lifted.
- Your crown touches the floor
- You must be confirm that weight of your body is completely on your elbow,not on your head.
- As your chest is up it slightly pressurize your shoulders blades.
- Now hold the position as you can.
- During whole procedure breath normally.
- Now exhale and release the position slowly firstly lift your head then drop your chest down to the ground.
- Untangle your legs and be relax.
- You can perform this pose up to 30 sec to 60 sec.
- You must remember that during releasing of this process stretch your legs up so that they are perpendicular to the floor and bring them slowly down to the floor thus you can lye flat against the floor
- During releasing the process up to 2 min breath deeply and allow your muscle and mind to relax completely.

In our mythology it is said that Matsyasana is the “destroyer of all the diseases”.
Stretches the intercostal muscle and deep hip flexors.
Belly fat destroyer also the neck fat reduces.
Stretches the organs of belly and muscles of neck.

High and low blood pressure patient should consult their doctor before doing this asana.
Patient having insominia and migraine also consult their doctor before performing this yoga
Neck injury patient strictly recommended to avoid this asana.
Spinal injury patient strongly recommended to avoid this asana.
During pregnancy avoid this asana.
Hernia patient should avoid this pose.
Patient having peptic ulcer should avoid this yoga
Children below 14 year do not perform this yoga
Try to do this asana in early morning and empty stomach.
