Newest Trend for Working Millennials
We millennials love to spend money. We millennials, also, sadly have a limited stock of money. So, what can be done to bring down these nightmarish cash crunches we all face at every month’s end? Easy peasy, it all starts with your home.
Most of us stay away from our parents and our real ‘home sweet home,’ for the sake of a stable successful career and financial independence. Unless you have a relative known to your work-city, you’ll have to move into a rental apartment. And monthly rents are no joking matter in today’s metros and developing cities.
Apartment rents make a big deficit in our salary. Not to forget the additional expenses of daily conveyance, groceries, entertainment, and sundry expenses of maintaining a good city lifestyle!
The first thing I did to cut down on a huge flat rent was to move into a shared apartment. I co-inhabit a beautiful 3BHK flat in a well-gated society at a lesser rent than what I used to shell out when living alone. And the perks are many: –
Co-living doesn’t necessarily mean sharing your personal space with your roomies! I have my own bedroom with an attached bathroom. It is just the living area and kitchen that we share. I have complete freedom to do whatever in my room, right from dressing it as per my personality to having weekend get-togethers with my friends!
This one is easily the most obvious and important perk of sharing your flat with others. A shared apartment means a shared rent. So now, for a smaller amount of money I can live in a gorgeous locality that I couldn’t even dream of doing otherwise, at least not if I want to have as much cash in hand as I do now.
Access to Luxury
Since I’m living on a shared basis, now I have the freedom of decorating my room as I’d always dreamed of, without actually hurting my wallet. What’s better, nowadays you have the option to #SmartlyOwn furniture and appliances on rent.
It didn’t take me long to order myself a beautiful bed, a big wardrobe, bookshelf and a lovely chest of drawers for my room. This online rental furniture company I rent from has some really chic furniture that is totally worth checking out! I also have a nice LED TV to binge watch on Netflix, all thanks to my new #SubscriptionLifestyle! Not that I couldn’t afford these earlier, but that would have done nothing but tightened my cash crunch!
Freedom to Experiment
My furniture rental company has an amazing exchange program wherein I can always bring home new furniture for the older one, even before the rent term is over! There are other good companies like rentomojo.com, which too offer similar frequent exchanges as well as free maintenance and moving.
Sense of Accomplishment
It feels good to actually make smart financial decisions. No more do I feel the guilt of parting ways with my hard-earned money for the sake of paying rent! I have a more stable bank account and I have been able to send back home a little money every month and pay a few of their bills. And trust me, it might sound very outdated, but helping my parents financially makes me feel accomplished like nothing else!
So, if money matters to you, then I suggest that you’d better start looking out for a good co-living flat. Trust me, I’m an introvert and yet have never felt as much freedom as I do now while sharing my flat with my roommates!
